Inter-Building Connectivity Solution for Royal Oak Corporate Office
Ctrl E Engagement & Approach
Background & Challenge
Royal Oak operates a corporate office next to its showroom, separated by a parking lot. Their leased line internet connection served only one building, while the second building was not internet-enabled. Connecting both buildings required a solution that avoided ground-level cabling, preserved parking lot usability, and delivered high-performance connectivity; all without additional leased line expenses.

Solution Journey
Initial Assessment & Discovery
The Ctrl E team conducted a meticulous site survey and discovered:
- The two buildings were separated by a parking lot, which could not be obstructed.
- Only one building had an existing leased line internet connection.
- Extending connectivity via underground or overhead cables would be disruptive and impractical.
One building offered easy rooftop access; the other did not allow terrace entry, presenting an installation challenge.
Proactive Response & UpgradeWe devised a wireless Point-to-Point (P2P) bridge with specialized outdoor equipment:
- Chose the TP-LINK CPE710, a powerful wireless P2P radio transceiver, for rooftop installation on both buildings.
- On the accessible building, installation on the rooftop was straightforward.
- On the second building, with terrace access restricted, our technician safely navigated through a window grill and worked from the edge of the top floor—precariously perched on the ledge—to install the device. This ensured clear line-of-sight alignment between both radios, which is essential for maximum signal quality and bandwidth.
Product Description
The TP-LINK CPE710 is a high-gain 5 GHz wireless CPE designed for P2P outdoor bridging:
- It creates a dedicated wireless link between two locations with direct “line-of-sight,” offering speeds often exceeding 900 Mbps over several hundred meters or more.
- The device uses directional antennas to focus its signal, minimizing interference and maximizing connection reliability.
- By bridging the network at Layer 2, it transparently extends LAN and internet access from one building to the other.
This approach allows clients like Royal Oak to share a single high-cost leased line across multiple buildings—even when those buildings are separated by open spaces such as parking lots, roads, or other obstacles—without recurring costs or civil work.
Outcome & Optimization
- Seamless Wireless Bridge: Connectivity was extended reliably, with no cables crossing the parking lot.
- Operational Continuity: Parking facilities remained untouched and fully usable.
Resilient Design: Despite installation challenges, the link maintained strong, weather-resistant performance.
High Performance: Wireless bridge delivered connection speeds and network stability equivalent to the leased line.
Client Results
Royal Oak’s management appreciated the innovative use of P2P wireless technology, especially given the logistical challenges overcome by Ctrl E’s team during installation. The solution enabled both their corporate office and showroom to share a single, premium internet connection with consistent, high-speed access and no operational disruptions, all while delivering significant, long-term cost advantages.
Results And Impacts
Cost Savings: Eliminated duplicative leased line charges, dramatically reducing operational overhead.
No Infrastructure Disruption: Preserved building exteriors and parking lot usability.
Unified Network: Enabled both buildings to work seamlessly on a single internet backbone.
Future Ready: Wireless solution can be scaled or adapted should Royal Oak expand further.
